ABOUT ME
Hello, I’m Dina Palma Dias, a passionate artist from the colourful landscapes of Alentejo, now creating and thriving in the vibrant city of Lisbon. My journey through the realms of visual arts has been a serendipitous blend of social sciences and artistic exploration, culminating in a dynamic career that spans painting, illustration, and recently, ceramics.
My academic path began with a degree in Social Service from the Instituto Superior de Serviço Social in Beja, followed by specialized studies in Family Mediation and Art Therapy in Lisbon. However, the true call of my spirit lies in the arts, leading me to pursue further education in Visual and Performing Arts at the Universidade do Algarve, and later, illustration at the prestigious Faculdade de Belas Artes in Porto.
In 2018, I opened a cultural hub in the Algarve, which became a canvas for artists and a beacon for community gatherings, blending painting with literature, poetry, and music. This space not only showcased my artwork but also hosted various artistic courses and events until it was temporarily closed due to the pandemic. Today, residing in Lisbon, I’m embarsking on a new chapter, fervently continuing my artistic endeavours.

My work primarily features a fusion of representational and abstract styles, where the unconscious and the unreal intermingle to express themes of freedom, impulse, and the subtle complexities of human emotions. Each stroke on the canvas and line in my illustrations carries with it a pseudo-symbolism, creating visual narratives that echo the unconscious dialogues of the mind.
Having participated in numerous national and international exhibitions, my art has also graced the pages of poetry and literary works, illustrating the profound connection between visual art and storytelling. My illustrations have supported narratives by renowned Portuguese authors like Ondjaki, Adriana Lisboa, and Afonso Cruz, among others, enhancing the literary experience with visual depth.
I invite you to explore my world, where art is not just seen but felt, where each piece is a conversation starter, and every colour and line is a step towards understanding the deeper narratives of life.
Thank you for visiting, and I hope my art resonates with you as much as it has with me in creating it.
